Scotland's Anthony McGill was the only man to make it through to the last 16 of his home event and impressed throughout Sunday, but unfortunately came up short in the final as the experienced Ding Junhui won the Scottish Open 4-2.

Six-times world champion Steve Davis played some of his best snooker of the year to win three matches in Ravenscraig to progress to the last 16 of the tournament on Sunday.

Glasgow's Anthony McGill was the only home player to make it through the first day of professional matches at the Scottish Open on Friday in a chilly Ravenscraig.

Looking at both Shaun Murphy and Mark Selby's form going in to the final of the UK Championship final it was always going to be hard to predict a winner and for much of the match neither of them could take more than a two frame lead at the Barbican Centre, York.




After Shaun Murphy's exciting comeback against Ali Carter yesterday it was going to be hard to top that in today's second semi-final at the UK Championship, althought both Mark Selby and Mark Davis definitely had the potential to cause drama.




We were down to the one-table setup at the UK Championship in York which meant it was time for the first semi-final. Today it was the turn of the 2008 champion Shaun Murphy who had a tought test in store against four times ranking event winner Ali Carter.





Since defending champion Judd Trump crashed out in the first round of the UK Championship the talk of York has been 17-year-old Luca Brecel who after qualifying followed up with impressive wins over Ricky Walden & Mark King to become the youngest
