Judd Trump: Joins John Higgins as the a qualifier from Group B of the Premier League
New world No 1 Judd Trump booked his place in the semi-finals of the Premier League after securing a 5-1 win over Mark Allen in Doncaster.
The contest was a straight shoot-out for the last remaining qualifying spot in Group B and it was the 23-year-old who stayed cool under the pressure to progress to the last four. The first two frames were split before Trump made his move, notching a break of 76 to take the third frame before going 3-1 ahead after capitalising on a miscue from his opponent.Another run of 76 secured the win while Allen could not manage to salvage some pride in the final frame."I feel like I'm improving at the moment. I feel like this season I've really come of age," Trump told Sky Sports after his win."I feel like my game has really improved over the last couple of years and at this moment in time I am ready to step up."In the first match of the evening Mark Selby's miserable campaign continued as he was beaten 5-1 by Shaun Murphy, who registered his first win of the competition but is out of semi-final contention.Murphy stepped up to take the first frame with a run of 86 and, after Selby had levelled things up, reeled off four straight frames, racking up a break of 116 in the process.Murphy potted 11 reds and 10 blacks in the final frame and even though he could not convert the maximum, he did more than enough to complete a comfortable win.Read more https://www1.skysports.com/snooker/news/12243/8236559/
