SIX-REDS WORLD CHAMPIPONSHIP RESULTS
Mark Davis has been of a resurgence of late having won the first major Six-Reds World Championship staged in Killarney, Ireland in 2009 and has been a regular in the televised stages of events in previous seasons.
Last month at the age of 39 he finally made his ranking event semi-final debut in the Wuxi Classic before narrowing losing out against Stuart Bingham to deny him his first major final.
In the next event straight after he put that match in the back of his mind and performed brilliantly throughout including beating the Wuxi champion Ricky Walden 7-2 in the semi-finals.
In the final he faced former world champion Shaun Murphy who had also been playing some good snooker throughout the week but in the end some high scoring from Davis which included four half-century breaks gave him the advantage throughout, winning the match by a 8-4 scoreline.
Apart from winning £40,000 (biggest payday of Davis' long career so far) it also meant that he becomes the first person to win the Six-Reds format World Title twice. With all the extra events this season, who's not to say he will add to his trophy cabinet in the coming months?
