Mark Davis won his first Six-Red World Championship title in Killarney in 2009 which heralded what many believe to be the real start of the 41-year-old's pro snooker career.

Since then the Sussex potter reached three ranking event semi-finals (including last year's UK Championship) and this week in Bangkok he added another impressive victory to his CV, beating Neil Robertson 8-4 to win his third 6-Reds world title.

It was world no.1 Robertson that got the better of proceedings in the start, racing to a 3-1 lead. His advance was halted by defending champion Davis who then took the next six frames in a row before ultimately capturing victory in the 12th to take home the £40,000 first prize.

World no.17 Davis said: "There was no real pressure on me going into the match. I got a bit nervous in the last frame, but then got the chance I had been looking for. It was my safety that really worked well today and I am happy to have the claimed the title again."

What makes Davis so good in the Six-Reds format of snooker is unknown, but what is easy to see is that the Sussex pro is having the best years of his 22-year-career and if he can continue the form he showed last year there is no reason he can't win a first ranking title.
